AI as Collaborator
Not how to prompt. How to work together.
For me, the interesting question is not prompt technique. It is how AI changes collaboration between design, product, engineering and users.
AI makes thinking shareable earlier
The biggest shift is not speed for its own sake. It is that rough thinking can become visible sooner.
A messy idea can become a flow, prototype, critique prompt or testable artefact before the team has overcommitted to it.
The collaboration is still human
AI can help produce alternatives, edge cases and first drafts. It cannot understand the full product context, team constraints or emotional weight of a decision in the way people can.
The value comes from using AI as a material for conversation, not as a source of final truth.
- What does this help the team discuss?
- What assumption is now visible?
- Who needs to challenge this?
- What would change our direction?
Useful collaboration has constraints
Without constraints, AI collaboration becomes noise. The team needs to know whether the output is exploring motion, interaction, information architecture, tone or technical feasibility.
A prototype is only helpful when everyone understands what question it is trying to answer.
AI is most useful when it helps teams think together sooner, not when it pretends to think for them.
